Clio vs. MyCase

Clio vs. MyCase for solo attorneys

MyCase is the calmer, cheaper choice for a true solo who wants one clean tool and nothing to configure. Clio pulls ahead once you need its integration library — but budget for Essentials or Advanced, not the $49 headline price.

Pricing

ToolPriceNotes
Clio$49–149/user/moEasyStart $49, Essentials $89, Advanced $119, Expand $149 (bundles the Grow CRM add-on). Real cost trends toward Essentials/Advanced once you need core features.
MyCase$50–130/user/moBasic $50, Pro $100, Advanced $130 (annual billing; roughly 20% more if paid monthly). Accounting add-on is another $39/user/mo.

What practitioners report

I use Mycase and the app sucks. To get around that, I just login to Mycase on my mobile browser instead.
Clio is superior for external automations through API, whereas MyCase (used to) be great at internal integrations that exceeded Clio's out of the box capability and saved you money. Now MyCase seems to be going the enshitification route.

What holds up

MyCase is what I'd recommend to a true solo. Cleaner client portal, fewer integrations to manage, more predictable pricing around $49-99/user/month. You give up flexibility.

Switching signals

Would I better served looking at Clio, or are they going to charge me an arm and a leg for addons?
