Matter management

For any firm juggling more than a handful of active matters at once.

Matter management is the practice of tracking every active matter's status, deadlines, assigned tasks, and key dates in one place, instead of scattered across email, sticky notes, and memory.

Why it matters for a solo or small firm

The failure mode for solos usually isn't losing a case on the merits — it's missing a deadline on a matter that got quietly deprioritized because nothing was flagging it. Matter management is the layer that catches that before it becomes malpractice exposure.

Example

You have 24 active matters. A statute-of-limitations deadline on matter #19 is 11 days out but hasn't come up in conversation in three weeks — a matter management system surfaces it before it becomes a problem, not after.
